“Open House With Representative Frank Hynes” Feature: Families with Children from China Representative Frank Hynes weekly cable access program, “Open House with Representative Hynes,” recently featured families who have adopted children from China. The Elliot Family of Scituate, and the South Shore Director of Families with Children from China, Judy Collins, joined Representative Hynes to discuss their personal experiences with the overseas adoption process. The result is a moving and illuminating story of their exhilarating journey to China. Robin Jensen Elliott describes how her journey began long before she and her husband stepped onto an airplane. She tells of their decision to adopt, as well as the research, paperwork, and waiting that dominated the months before they were approved. Ms. Jensen Elliott shares vivid details from their trip to China, revealing the struggles and cultural differences they encountered along the way. She illustrates their first meeting with their new daughter at a Chinese orphanage, and the gradual formation of their relationship as a family. Ms. Collins provides viewers with a helpful overview of the Families with Children from China organization.
